NUEVA YORK (AP) - La flamante campeona de "texteo" tiene un mensaje para todos los padres que presumiblemente no les hará mucha gracia.

PUBLICIDAD

"¡Dejen que sus hijos 'texteen' durante la cena! ¡Que texteen en la escuela! Da resultado", afirmó el sábado Kate Moore, de 15 años, después de ganar el Campeonato Nacional de Texteo.

Después de todo, se justificó, "sus hijos podrían ganar dinero, publicidad y un teléfono".

Para la adolescente de Des Moines, Iowa, su hábito de enviar 14.000 textos mensuales le permitió ganar el premio de 50.000 dólares apenas ocho meses después de tener su primer teléfono celular.

Moore, con notable velocidad y precisión, superó a otros 20 finalistas de Estados Unidos durante dos días de desafíos como enviar textos con los ojos vendados o hacerlo sorteando un obstáculo en movimiento.

En la prueba final superó a Morgan Dynda, de 14 años, de Savannah, Georgia. Ambas muchachas tuvieron que enviar mensajes de texto de tres largas frases sin cometer ningún error.

La adolescente desestimó la idea de que se concentre excesivamente en las comunicaciones virtuales aduciendo que mantiene buenas calificaciones, actúa en obras teatrales escolares y socializa con sus amistades personalmente los fines de semana.

Entre una cosa y otra se las arregla para enviar entre 400 y 470 textos por día. Uno de sus usos, dice, es para estudiar con sus amistades para los exámenes.

Los finalistas, todos de 22 años o menos, llegaron después de un proceso de selección entre 250.000 candidatos.

Es el tercer año de la competencia de texteo patrocinada por la división de teléfonos móviles de LG Electronics Inc.

Jajaja, I don't think so, because it kind to events is bought for the same cellular company, therefore I don't believe that the girl spend money in the messages, I believe that is amazing win in this hard times money only to send messages.

Only I want to imagine as she should to has the fingers.

Do you say "mensajear"? I had never heard like this. We say "escribir mensajes".

Yes, she just wont 50.000 Whole dollars only to send messages from her cellular, therefore I invite you that you send messages and you grasp surpass that goal, perhaps also you wont money for it.

It was a "concurso", a competition in English (I think) and she won the prize.

You'll win the prize when you start writing in Spanish

--- Wasn't there a girl from Wisconsin that got arrested from school for 'texting'? ...so encouraging other teens to text a lot might not be a good idea...

Does "arrest" mean "castigar" or "detener por la policía" here? If it means to be arrested by the police I think it's a hard measure, too hard, in my opinion
