Question Apostrophe, no apostrophe

I've been seeing lately lots of kids making mistakes with apostrophes like:

I love grape's.

There are lots of mistake's in this book.

Why are they doing that? I know them; they are my age. are they doing it on purpose or what?

They are really getting annoying.

Maybe they're not sure what the rules are? You could ask them if they know it is wrong.

The practice is getting more and more prevalent. I've even seen it in the news feeds. Journalists should know better.

I don't know about the US, but the most frequent abusers of apostrophes in the UK seem to be GREENGROCERS. I suspect that the condition could be connected to the same green gene that enables them to write backwards with white paint on their shop windows

Hi Laura,

Why do the Dutch use an apostrophe when they write the plural of foto as foto's?

I think it's just being lazy. I also make the mistake sometimes when I'm typing, due to going to fast. I know the rules, it's just sometimes I'll type or omit it out of habit. Usually I'll catch the mistake and fix it, but if I'm in a hurry or am too lazy to proof-read, I can miss it.

Creo ellos son perezoso solamente. Hago el error cuando estoy escribiendo porqué escribo demasiado rápido. Usualmente veo y corrijo lo, pero si estoy apurado, puedo no verlo.
