Wink

Hola irmamar, thank you for the welcome. I used to live in Barcelona, 21 years ago... right now I am in California... and (in reference to your quote) given that Les Luthiers said something like, "cantando era un animal", in my case, I can be "cruel" in singing as such... (much like "Asuranceturix, el Bardo" or "Seguroatodoriesguix", the way the translators of Gosciny and Uderzo translated the name of the Bard in the Asterix series...) To be able to understand French, Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Italian and English apparently is less difficult than be able to understand the different variants of Chinese... and while I am not an expert at that... I hope not to limit my learning to only the 6 languages mentioned...

You've mentioned two things that I love: Les Luthiers (que hacen muchas gracias de nada) and Asterix.

Yup! irmamar, the last one I listened to by Les Luthiers is "En vivos" (really funny, witty and "genial" as usual with these universal Argentineans). The Asterix series, I lost track after Uderzo departed this life... but I used to read and reread and reread these comics, (in Spanish, translations by Victor Mora and/or Jaime Perich) again and again and again... Besides how funny they are, they can give you a LOT of good ideas on how to translate things with wit and intelligence, and humor and 'spice'. I read some English version, and I want to tackle the French original one of these days, so I can dust off a little bit the Gallic language, which I have not used for almost 20 years...

It's like a poem.
I don't know a lot about books, but really I believe that your phrases are nice.
