Oxford bilingual gives
state-of-the-art adj ‹ computer / turntable › último modelo adj inv; state-of-the-art technology tecnología f (de) punta or de vanguardia

I have heard "tecnología puntera" and
(Nobody will think I am showing off with these examples... right?)

Oxford also gives (without hyphens)
the state of the art in something = lo último or lo más novedoso en cuanto a algo.

sosia has a spectacular aura aboutsosia has a spectacular aura about
you must give the whole sentence, because the term refers to the "State of the art" of different things:
tecnología punta o tecnología puntera
investigaciones literarias de vanguardia
el último estado de la ciencia

etc...

Poli, it sounds like the "de" is a typo. It should be "arquitectura puntera". In which case is like "leading architecture" as in "top of the line architecture".

I do not track very much with the rest of your post... Are you quoting the article?
