Signal sounds

Before getting out of the lift, there will be a voice telling you what floor it's reached. What do you call this? Can I say these?

-I find the signal sound very disturbing.

I would use automated voice.

By the way, lift is a British term. Although many may will understand you elsewhere, the more common term in the US is elevator.

If it is a voice, use what poli suggested. If it is a sound, use 'the sound of the signal' or just 'the signal'.

I find the sound of the signal very disturbing.

Are they correct?

-An automated voice will speak when a floor is reached.
-Automated voice will speak when a floor is reached.

The indefinite article (used in your first sentence) would be heard much more often, because it is more general in nature. When there is the possibility of more than one available 'voice', this article can be used to convey that, as well.

The definite article (used in your last sentence) pins the number of voices down to one-it will be the only 'automated voice' heard when the floor is reached.

Your middle sentence is not correct. An article must be used.
