Question Mahout

mahout: the keeper or driver of an elephant, especially in India.

How do you say "mahout" in Spanish?

Maybe just, "cuidador de elefantes"?

"Majut"?

He encontrado la palabra "cornaca", del portugués cornaca, y este del singalés (idioma de Sri Lanka) kūruṇeka, amansador de elefantes. La verdad es que nunca la había oído antes.
Yo he oído y he usado "cuidador de elefantes", como has dicho antes.

Veo que el DRAE la trae con los datos que dices... Yo tampoco la había visto ni oído nunca... aunque hace 30 años creo que leí El Señor de los Elefantes... de René Guillot... y a lo mejor salía ahí... ¿qui lo sa?
