Then the text is written in another language. OK. El yidish sí es otra lengua. Pero aún así, hay palabras prestadas de ella(préstamos) que usamos en EEUU. Usamos préstamos de muchos otros idiomas. Y se los puede hallar todos en un buen diccionario de inglés. Yiddish is indeed another language. But even so, there are loanwords from it that we use in the U.S. We use loanwords from many other languages. And you can find them all in a good English dictionary. He aquí unos ejemplos (Here are some examples): glasnost, perestroika, vodka, borscht, czar (del ruso - from Russian) toreador, taco, alpaca, bravado, armada (del español) broccoli, macaroni, fugue, prima donna, ghetto (del italiano) ballet, cachet, savoir faire, faux pas, champagne (del francés) lederhosen, pumpernickle, dachshund, wiener (del alemán) kosher, lox, bagel, chutzpah, klutz, shmuck (del yidish) guru, avatar, swastika, yoga, karma (del sánscrito) (préstamos de otros idiomas - loanwords from other languages) boomerang, ukulele, bamboo, taboo, tattoo, sushi, samurai, soy, karaoke, kamikaze, tsunami, ginseng, ketchup, teepee, skunk, squaw, squash, jazz, gumbo, gorilla, ski, slalom, fjord, jamboree, pajamas, dungaree, cummerbund, cot, buoy, cruise, cookie, waffle In this forum, that other type of language speaking you. In this forum, what other types of languages are spoken? There's a forum dedicated to practicing other languages (Otros Idiomas - Other Languages). I don't believe there is a language that you can't practice there, but so far there are six languages listed in the 'prefix' pull-down menu. If you don't find the language you want to practice, choose 'other' from the list. |

ennuyé - bored avoir des ennuis - to be worried faire des ennuis - to get into mischief etc. My personal list would include donc from French, and ya and palo from Spanish. P.S. Actually, I guess she was referring to the English word ennui, but if you think it's complicated . . .
