I don't know if we have any members in these forums that are from Puerto Rico.
The Spanish spoken by los puertorriqueños isn't terribly different from the Spanish spoken in Central America (south of Mexico). However, all countries exhibit a 'flavor' of Spanish that is unique. Don't worry about the 'flavors' for now. Just begin by learning phrases from your baricua friend(s). If you imitate what you hear, you'll be speaking the Spanish of Puerto Rico before long. Ask grammar questions here, if you'd like. Ask any questions here, in fact. We're all happy to help you learn. |

Hola Sandra:
Welcome to the forums. As Rusty said, Spanish is Spanish.....it's the flavor we give to it that makes it different. I know that even PR Spanish is different in its own island.....so hang around your PR friends and pick up little nuances to the language and before you know it....as Emeril would say, BAM!! You are speaking Spanish. Buena suerte Elaina ![]() |
