Viajar a /de tren

A: 1) con 2) a 3) en 4) de
Is it wrong to say ... viajar de tren?

Yes, it is.

If you "viajas de tren", it means you are replacing the train or are traveling disguised as a train.

Not a bad image if you're a poet, but a bit inappropriate if you're just trying to get someone to pick you up at the station.

Not just in Barcelona, I think en is used this way in Latin America too. It's like in English travel by (por) car or travel in (en) a car are somewhat interchangeable.
Por sounds more proper to me though.

Both are correct, but "en" is used I'd say 99.99%

@Sancho: Tienes razón. Lo usual es viajar en tren/avión/coche/bicicleta... Yo creo que si se usa "por", debe de ser por influencia de lenguas extranjeras. El diccionario no marca su uso de esta manera.

...a menos que se interprete como el modo de ejecutar algo.

Por ejemplo las famosas palabras "Par avión" significando por medio de, a través de. ¿No sería ese un uso ordinario, pero que elegimos usar "en" en vez de "por"?

El hecho que viajemos en/por barco/tren/avión, es así indistintamente usada.

También nos podemos ir en/por avión/tren/etc...
