Half a month

Half a month

Are my sentences all correct?


1. After check-out of his roommate, John will have the whole room to himself, and he hopes to do something important within that half month.

3. After half-time, there was a half minute in which the game became tense. Within that half minute, John almost scored.

1) After his roommate checks out...withn the next 2 weeks (and sometimes fortnight in UK and Australia--never in the USA). Half month is not wrong but it sounds strange. Half a month sounds worse.

3,4) I would use half minute, or better yet, thirty seconds.
