Amanecer can actually be a verb.
Amanece más temprano en verano que en invierno. It dawns earlier in Summer than in Winter.

"Amanecer" is both a verb and a noun:
Amanece a las ocho (verb) ¡Qué bonito amanecer! (noun) You can use "métodos nemotécnicos" (I don't know the word in English) to remember: Amanecer : Dawn Amenazar: threaten Amenizar - entertain |

Yep, that's the one. I always think "llamarse" (but know that's wrong, because I know that word). It's one of those things where I can't get the right word because I can't stop thinking about the wrong one.
