Saki, the short stories master
You all should read Saki (Hector Hugh Munro)… that’s my statement. Take it or leave!
It’s excellent for practicing English because the stories Saki wrote are very short (best for learners) with common vocabulary and simple gramatic. But it’s contain is excellent, exuberant. ![]() If you read him, tell me what you think. If you didn’t read hi yet, fush fush! -Where can I find Saki’s stories? -Go to your nearer book store or just write “saki stories” in a browser, etc.. etc ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People talk vaguely about the innocence of a little child, but they take mighty good care not to let it out of their sight for twenty minutes. The clock struck eleven with the respectful unobtrusiveness of one whose mission in life is to be ignored. He is one of those people who would be enormously improved by death. Oysters are more beautiful than any religion . . . there's nothing in Christianity or Buddhism that quite matches the sympathetic unselfishness of an oyster. People yield more consideration to a mutilated mealtime than they ever would to a broken heart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you are right. And if I say "the short stories master" ... is that ok?

Ookami, that is a great idea... I think I read a short story about a man who was in prison almost all his life and then he got "freed"... (long, long time ago... I read it long ago)
Or (I may be wrong) there was one where a man died trying to teach German irregular verbs to an Elephant... (I believe he died crushed and squashed by the elephant...) My memory on Saki may be a bit shaky, and I may even mix him up with someone else... but I will definitely check him out more thoroughly... and seriously... Thank you for the suggestion... or rather "injunction" to read him! ![]() ![]()

Ages ago on English TV there was a series of Saki stories, and I remember them because they were quite entertaining. The only one I remember is when a dog (or wolf) had eaten a gypsy, and then gets run over on a road. But I won't spoil the punchline.

A short stories master is acceptable, but if you want to say it in good English, it would be better to use a master of the short story.
