Why hello there
I have something shocking to tell everybody here...I'm new to these forums.
My name is Laura, I'm 18 and I work as a waitress. I studied Spanish for 3 years in high school, but haven't been in a Spanish class for almost 2 years now and I'm very unhappy at how much I've forgotten by having no opportunity to practice. I recently thought about working on learning more and refreshing what I already know, and more recently decided I would learn how to communicate all the words and phrases I use commonly at work, in Spanish. I found this forum by searching on Google for a forum that might be useful in learning how to use Spanish in the workplace, and from the few threads I've looked at everyone seems very helpful, although I do feel intimidated by realizing how very little I actually know. I look forward to speaking with many of you, and to learning as much as possible. So hi hello hola, and please be kind to me ![]() Now that I've spoken an awful lot about myself, I'd like anyone who reads this to reply and tell me your favorite word in any language. Or anything else you'd like to say ![]() |

Since you work in a restaurant I have a restaurant joke for you: Una Mosca en la Sopa -Un turista norteamericano pide un sopa en el restaurant, y con su fuerte acento se queja: -¡Camarero! ¡Hay UN mosca en mi sopa! -No es UN mosca, es UNA mosca -¡Caramba! ¡Que buena vista tiene! Some of my favorite words that I use all the time are: ¡Ojalá! (oh-hah-LAH!, magari (mah-GAH-ree) in Italian, ¿¡Qué tal!? ¿Cómo te llamas? Come ti chiami? Mucho gusto. Molto piacere. Al contrario. Same in Italian Te felicito. Complimenti A proposito. Same in Italian Te amo. Ti amo. Naturalmente - Spanish and Italian Con permiso Salud ¡Basta! - Same in Italian ¡Caramba! Bart Simpson ¡Qué le vaya bien! Bienvenidos ¡Carne para todos! Buen viaje No me digas - Non mi dica ¡Claro! Sobre todo... Al principio... Por ejemplo... Así que... - Así que trabajas en un restaurante. O sea... entonces antes después todavía - Todavía vida mía Sin duda... ¿Cómo se llama en español... aún Sin duda... A pesar de... Poco a poco...
