Correct sentence in Spanish
Juan es rapido. Corre rapidamente.
What is missing from this sentence? My teacher says it's only partially correct. "estoy escuchando" "estan dando" " estas haciendo" "estamos durmiendo" "estoy viendo" "estan leyendo" What can I add to these phrases to make them correct? My teacher says they are only partially correct. |

Correct way of sentences in Spanish
Juan es rápido. Corre mas rápidamente.
Is this the correct way to say this sentence? estoy escuchando = "lo qué estoy escuchando", "qué estoy escuchando", or "lo estoy escuchando" están dando = "se están dando", "los están dando", or "las están dando" estás haciendo = "lo qué estás haciendo", "qué estás haciendo", or "lo estás haciendo" estamos durmiendo = "nos estamos durmiendo", "los estamos durmiendo", or "las estamos durmiendo" estoy viendo = "yo estoy viendo" or "me estoy viendo" están leyendo = "que los están leyendo", "qué están leyendo" or "los están leyendo" Which one of these are correct? I don't understand when to use the personal pronouns either as a subject, an indirect object, or direct object. How am I supposed to know when to use the verb as the subject, direct object, or indirect object? |

Correct way of sentences in Spanish
Thanks Rusty for checking these sentences! I have a little bit of a problem with the previous sentences. I wasn't supposed to put the pronouns but the the present progressive form of the verbs in parentheses. I will let you know what they are as follows:
1. Juan (escuchar) la música. 2. Los artistas (dar) un concierto en el parque. 3. Tú (hacer) una gira por la ciudad. 4. Carlos y to (dormir). 5. Yo (ver) una película en el cine. 6. Ustedes (leer) el artícula sobre Shakira en Rolling Stone. I at first put the following for the practice test: 1. Juan estoy eschuchando la música. 2. Los artistas están dando un concierto en el parque. 3. Tú estás haciendo una gira por la ciudad. 4. Carlos y yo estamos durmiendo. 5. Yo estoy viendo una película en el cine. 6. Ustedes están leyendo el artícula sobre Shakira en Rolling Stone. The second time I took the practice test I put the following: 1. Juan lo qué estoy eschuchando. 2. Los artistas se están dando un concierto en el parque. 3. Tú lo qué estás haciendo una gira por la ciudad. 4. Carlos y yo nos estamos durmiendo. 5. Yo me estoy viendo una película en el cine. 6. Ustedes los qué están leyendo el artículo sobre Shakira en Rolling Stone. My instructor marked these all wrong when I took the practice test for the second time. The instructions are to put the present progressive form of the verbs in parentheses. The feedback given was as follows: "Remember this form has two parts, first the form of the verb estar that goes with the subject "Juan", then add the appropriate -ing ending to escuchar. When I have looked in my Spanish verb book there isn't any verbs with the -ing ending for the verb escuchar. Can someone please explain to me what I am supposed to do here? |

You asked more or less the same question in another thread.
I answered you there and will add a link that may help you to understand how the present progressive is formed (it goes beyond the present tense, too). The second round of sentences are incorrect. They mostly include information that wasn't in the original Spanish sentences. Just change the infinitive in parentheses to the present progressive. You'll be adding two words only - the conjugated form of 'estar' (which must be in the present tense and must agree with the subject), plus the gerundio (English: present participle) of the infinitive in parentheses. |
