Do you think the is optional and makes no difference in meaning? (the following talking about a poem.)
-It had 9 syllables while all __ other lines had 4.

I would include the the but it seems optional.
(Traditionally, we don't use the numerals 0-10 in writing. We write out the word: nine, four...)
