El policía
Hi,
El policía means the police officer; la policía means the police as an institution. What about the female police officer?

el policía = policeman (police officer who is male)
la policía = policewoman (police officer who is female) la policía = police officers, collectively (the institution/department/force)

I agree with Rusty.
Sometimes to clarify, you might hear "la mujer policía".
