What does "rating" mean, here? And why do I get a list of older postings when I click on it?

At first I wasn't sure what you were talking about, but then I finally figured it out.

It's the rating link on the listing of threads in a forum.

When you click on that link, it re-orders the threads by their rating. The rating is assigned by you (by all the users actually) and you can do that by using the "Rate thread" link at the top of each thread.

I hope that helps.
