I took the dart and threw it at the dartboard.


Most likely some variation of diameter, diámetro or circles... concentric circles ? is what I figured, but I couldn't find any empirical evidence either. But why not diama ... then?

Apparently the term diana comes from the word día:

diana.

(De día).

1. f. Mil. Toque militar al comienzo de la jornada, para despertar a la tropa.

2. f. Toque de una agrupación musical que señala el comienzo de un día festivo.

3. f. Punto central de un blanco de tiro.

4. f. Blanco de tiro, constituido habitualmente por una superficie en la que hay dibujadas varias circunferencias concéntricas.

5. f. Biol. y Quím. Órgano o célula donde se dirige la acción de un reactivo, un medicamento, una enzima, etc.
