Different ways of saying YES

A friend of mine said como no is an emphatic yes in Peru. Is como no used throughout Latin AMerica andSpain? Would it be more correct to write cómo no?

En algunas zonas de América la secuencia cómo no se usa irónicamente como negación rotunda: —¿Me prestas tu automóvil? —¡Cómo no! [= de ninguna manera].

guessing it's like indeed.

@Poli: "¿Cómo no?" is definitely "yes", like "claro", "desde luego", "por supuesto"... (In Mexican Spanish, you could also say "faltaba más").

"Why not?" is rather "¿Por qué no?", which is a yes, after having pondered whether to say yes or not.

In some contexts "ya". I think it carries connotations of "Yes, stop wasting my time telling me things I already know".

@Pjt: Un uso de "ya" muy ibérico, pero aquí se entiende bien.
Nosotros matizamos con frecuencia: "ya, entiendo"/"ya capto"/"ya entendí".


@Perikles: We have a similar use of some absurd statements, to make the other person be aware that we consider rather stupid what they are saying:

--¿Ya llegaste?
--No, lo que ves es un holograma.

--(They've just said they're too busy) ¿Entonces no vienes a la fiesta?
--Sí, pero en espíritu.

And we can also get a little more aggressive when using a question that means "yes":

--¿Te caíste?
--(From down the floor) ¿Y qué parece?
