It seems to me that a student fails to recognize the commutability of integers during multiplication.

5x8 = cuarenta

So, if you mix up the 5x8 to get 8x5, you then mix up the letters of cuarenta to get the result.

This is the funniest joke I have seen this year. Mind you, it's only 3rd January.

8x5 reversed of 5x8

tarencua is the reverse of cuarenta (by syllable)

el chiste es aplicar para las letras (palabra "cuarenta") la propiedad conmutativa (el orden de los factores no altera el producto)
Asi para números es válida
5 x 8 = 8 x 5 = 40
pero no para las palabras
cuarenta distinto de cuataren distinto de tarencua
de ahí el chiste:

5x8=40 (cuarenta) 8x5=tarencua

Is there ANY WORD or SYMBOL you don't understand in the posts of this thread?

Let me know which one is the FIRST word or symbol you don't understand here... and then we can go from there.

ta-ren-cua = cua-ren-ta = 5 x 8 = 8 x 5

Si dices "cinco-por-ocho igual a cua-ren-ta"
puedes decir "ocho-por-cinco igual a ta-ren-cua"

Al igual que alteras el orden de "cinco" y "ocho" puedes alterar "cua" y "ta".

Por eso yo me reí "al revés" (aJ-aJ-aJ).
