Más o menos. Son las hojas que entrega el profesor a los estudiantes al principio o al final de la clase.

No.

Handout puede ser un volante (impreso) que te dan en la calle, también significa limósna o "de lo que te den".

apuntes = notes
A student takes notes during the class.
A handout is given to the students by the teacher. It is one or more sheets of paper that usually provides additional material (not necessarily covered in class, but needed to complete an assigment).

Handout tambien significa algo gratis.
"that guy is looking for a handout" puede significar "aguel tío está pidiendo limosna."
