Modificar o transformar prendas de ropa
Interesante...

En Chile, las personas que "modifican" cosas como carteras, sombreros y ropaje, son por supuestos llamados modistas, sombrereros y marriqueneros respectivamente, pero cuando específicamente llevamos los artículos mencionados para que los modifiquen, los llevamos para que los "transformen".

¿Es así en otras partes?

Sí, también en Chile, pero cuando uno va a ir al sastre solo para que hagan una modificación, le llamamos "transformar"

Arreglar es para tapar un hoyos, zurcir etc.

En México se dice arreglar la ropa, para cualquier modificación, no sólo reparaciones: dobladillos, valencianas, meterle/sacarle (para hacerla más pequeña/grande), cambiarle el cuello, quitarle las mangas...

En los establecimientos donde se hace esta clase de servicios, el letrero dice "transformaciones", pero nunca he oído a ningún cliente que lo exprese así.
