It depends on the context, but here are some more ideas (Rusty's is good too).
Los láseres [arreglan/corrigen/rectifican/solucionan] [el problema/la enfermedad] [en la fuente/desde donde inicia/a raíz/desde donde proviene] etc ![]() Los láseres solucionan el problema desde su raíz. Edit: I just saw Crotalito's post, and I asked a native speaker who said "Los rayos láser" sounds better than "Los lásares".

You can use both "láser" or "rayo láser", for singular. Usually, speaking in plural, it's "rayos laser" because saying "láseres" sounds a bit strange. I agree with Crotalito.
Lasers fix the problem at the source.........etc. etc. -"los rayos láser arreglan/eliminarn el problema desde su mismo origen" Some sentences "... una vez encontrado el problema, se sella con el láser" ".. un haz de rayos láser controla el perímetro" ".. un rayo láser soluciona el problema, quemando...." "Luke Skywalker escapó con su sable/espada láser de los rayos de las pistolas láser" Saludos ![]() PD: I have never hear "lacer" in normal use.

Hmmm...
Which gets me to ask, is it incorrect to use the plural of the word laser in Spanish? I tend to agree that the word lasers sounds better in English than it does in Spanish so for plural are you suggesting I use rayos laser instead of láseres? Thanks for your help guys/gals! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Elaina,I think that because laser is a borrowed word in Spanish rules may not applyas tightly as they would with a normal Spanish adjective. Maybe rayos laserand rayo laser should be seen as one word and therefore the adjective/nounagreement rules don't have to apply.

a laser for the treatment of acne? ¿Dónde puedo encontrar a un láser para el tratamiento del acné? You need to pay a lot of money to a plastic surgeon. Tienes que pagar mucho dinero a un cirujano estético. No puedes conseguir el láser para el uso privado. Last edited by Rusty; October 14, 2008 at 09:07 AM. |

You can also use "láseres", it's also common use, but more for "variety", than for "plural of ray". You can see Rusty's examples.
So if you want to speak of variety use "láseres" "hay una gran cantidad de láseres disponibles" "se puede elegir entre distintos láseres..." If you want to sepak of "plural of beam " then "rayos láser" "tras emitir una descarga de rayos láser, se destruye la célula" This is my usage, you can say it otherwise. saludos ![]()

Sosia, tú y Crotalito son los únicos aquí que son tienen español como tu primer idioma y creen que rayos láser suena mas natural que rayos láseres (aunque rayos láseres es correcto gramáticamente). Estoy de acuerdo con vds.

Poli, the plural of "rayo láser" is "rayos láser" no "rayos láseres"/"rayos lásers".
Laser is Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation RAE Quote:
Stricktly speaking, we sould say "unos láser" and no "unos láseres", but it's normal to say "se puede elegir entre distintos láseres..." and no "se puede elegir entre distintos láser..." Speaking about rayos, it's curious, we can say "rayos de tormenta" or "rayos de sol", and lots of people says "rayos solares" but nobody says "rayos tormentosos" Saludos ![]()

Sosia,Thanks for clearing this up. I just went with rayos láser thinking is soundedbetter. It's nice to know that there is logic behind it. Here's another question. Do you say rayos x or rayos equis? Rayos x soundsbetter to me.

Gracias a todos por su ayuda.
![]() ![]() Creo que voy a usar láseres porque en verdad no sé que clase de láser usan para este problema y creo que el usar rayos láser estaría dando información incorrecta. ![]() Cuando lo escribo en mi documento, mi spell checker me dice que está incorrecto y me ofrece la opción de láceres. Voy a tener que usar mi ignore all option. Es interesante todo lo que aprende uno haciendo una simple pregunta. Por eso me gusta estar aqui. ![]() ¡Gracias de nuevo!

We write "Rayos X" and we say /rayos equis/, the normal way of saying X /equis/.
We do not say the english X, that is /ixx/. The x-rays are very old, so it came here with no english influence. With laser is the same, we write it "láser", with accent. We say /Láser/, the english say /laeser/ Don't laugh at my / / signs ![]() saludos
