mosquito: mosquito mosco: never heard is Spain. It's for Mexico I think male fly: mosca macho female fly: mosca hembra male mosquito: mosquito macho female mosquito: mosquito hembra Usually gender it's not a problem when speaking about them. Or are you so well eye-gifted?

The confusion comes from the fact that English has the word "macho", which came from Spanish, but it has a slightly different meaning. It means more like "manly", "virile" (varonil).
