Nothing wrong with eating dinner at 16:30, of course. I meant that from16:30 to 6:30 there are 14 hours, and that is not good for your stomach. Stomach needs to be fed often and with a few quantity, otherwise, one can get fat.
But sleeping after having eaten recently? Not only would you feel full of energy (especially if you drank a soft drink, or something with a lot of protein or such), but if you drank anything with your meal, if even the slightest noise woke you up, you'd have to tromp into the bathroom during the night, waking you up even further. Sounds like a recipe for insomnia, especially for children and old people. Even I wouldn't like that system. Even if I went somewhere where this schedule is common, I would stick to my regular schedule. And I'm not the least bit fat.

what would one normally eat for 'brunch'? For me lunch is leftover dinner from the previous night most of the time. Breakfast is bread and milk.

School days...
Breakfast: 7:00 am
Lunch: 1:00 pm
Dinner: 5:30 pm

It's usually a fancier breakfast. Usually one invites another to have brunch, and thus it's more formal than breakfast. It's also bigger than breakfast. Maybe an omlette, scramble, large fancy Belgiam waffle with fruit, French toast, Swedish pancakes, Dutch babies* (*I sure hope that translate well, lol. It is similar to an omlette or quize almost.
--
For breakfast I normally have soup, split pea, chicken and rice, as I've gotten really sick of cereal both cold and hot. Ideally eggs, bacon, pancakes, sausage and yummy hashbrowns.

I'm not fat by the way.

That's right in each neighborhood is different the dinner time, because I have been in several places, for instance I have traveled over this time together with my family, in fact I have knew a lot people around of the south of the Mexican republican and all the place where I have been the time is different in some many places the dinner time is around of right clock P.M and in other places the time dinner is ten night.

Then I consider different the time to dinner in all the days of this a little earth.

Muchas gracias, Poli.

Pjt, no lo sabía, pero lo mismo pienso de Madrid cuando veo a todo el mundo en la calle más tarde de las 10 de la noche.

Caballero, I didn't mean to go to sleep immediately after dinner, of course.

@Irma - that means that on one particular occasion, you did fall asleep after dinner, although you had no intention to do so. It sounds very interesting, but I don't think it is what you meant.

I didn't mean to spend all your money (but I did)
I didn't mean to drive so fast (but I was speeding)

I did not mean to go to sleep after dinner = I fell asleep after dinner, but I did not intend to. (I did fall asleep, that was very rude of me)

Por si no lo has captado, es una referencia a "la ciudad que no duerme" (e.g. "I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps", de la canción New York, New York).

Then, how would you say "No quería decir que te fueras a dormir inmediatamente después de cenar"?

I did not mean that you/one would go to bed immediately after dinner/eating.

The second verb in Spanish is not indicative - neither is it indicative in English. (I'm not sure whether it counts as a subjunctive or conditional, but it definitely is not indicative)

I think I remember reading something like that. That in Spanish speaking countries, dinner is quite small compared to how we do things here. Here, breakfast is a tiny meal (in fact some live on coffee and chewing gum), lunch is bigger, and dinner is the largest meal of all, often with several courses: salad first, French bread, sometimes soup, a large entree, desert, and water or milk. It would be quite impossible to go to sleep for several hours with all that in ones belly.

Yeah, it's hard to eat something without some water, especially si es picante. But I wouldn't drink that much with dinner. If I had got woken up in the middle of the night, I'd have to use the facilities, which would further wake me up. But actually most people I know drink more water, juice, or milk with their dinner than I do. Milk is good for getting calcium, so in that way it is a good thing. I know some people that drink coffee or soda pop with dinner, which I could never do. Even though I don't go to sleep for about 4 or 5 hours after dinner, I wouldn't be able to sleep at all. My dad sometimes drinks a glass of wine with dinner on occasion.
