Hola, aquí no entiendo como la frase "De modo que" es usado. Pensé que sea similar a "para que" significando proposito, "in order that". Pero me parece que no caba aquí en este sentido. ¿Que significa exactamente?

En este contexto, podría sustituirse por "así que". Es una forma de concluir, luego de haber caminado igual todo el tiempo, que el único camino posible es en esa misma dirección.
