¿Qué palabra sería la más correcta para traducir la palabra address? ¿Domicilio o dirección?

Is it an idiomatic preference?

Address = dirección (tambien como cuando alguien se dirige a otro(s)

Domicile = ??

Both are common, but "domicilio" is a little more for "official" use and "dirección" is more informal.

Domicilio is an official/registered address, i.e. an address that would appear on your passport or other official document.
Dirección can also be your registered address or any other where you may wish to receive mail, for instance. e.g. Dirección postal

You can also say "domicilio postal" (at least here, as opposition to "domicilio fiscal" and others), but it's the "official" use of the word what decides over "dirección" and "domicilio".

Official here understood as the interaction between governmental agents and individuals.

They both are very used in my country as Domicilio and direccion.

But at least in my country they are used of a way very distinct for example.

If you take a taxi in the Mexico city, you can tell to the driver. Por favor puede llevarme a esta dirección.

Other example about it.

Señora Ramirez esta es mi domicilio.

Domicilio, es un lugar de vivienda, una direccion puede ser comercial, de no ser vivienda.

Here there are "domicilio fiscal" (where your tax-related documents are addressed), "domicilio postal" (where your ordinary mail correspondence arrives), "domicilio mercantil" (where your business is), and a few other kinds.

I just went to RAE and it lists it as "domicilio social" as for commerce or legal entity, also. In addition to being the place where you dwell.

Creo domicilio es un poco más formal

Pero por ej:

Para decir vamos a tu casa, puedes decir:

vamos a tu vivienda.
vamos a donde vives.
vamos a tu residencia.
vamos a tu domicilio.

Nunca vas a poder decir vamos a tu direccion.

A menos que digas, "vamos a tu direccion comercial"
