Follow a Spanish TV series online

I apologise if this isn't allowed, but recently I mentioned that watching TV shows (legally) online, direct from the TV networks is a good way to immerse yourself in the language without being in the country. While Chileno did kindly link to a Chilean TV station, the general impression I got was that this hasn't been openly discussed, so I'm planning on maintaining a list here. Unfortunately the content I attempted to view from the Chilean website was unplayable due to network latency issues.

Because there are so many countries to work through, identifying what their main TV networks are and then checking to see if they publish already-broadcast episodes online is going to be a bit of an ongoing process.

I'll keep editing this post providing links per country. Please don't post any links to streaming websites that re-broadcast the network's content illegally. These are usually pretty bad anyway.

Using TV is a good way to learn because it's a fairly natural medium to understand the language using a combination of the acting and the speech itself. It also helps to pick up commonly used expressions and to be able to put them into use at the right times. More importantly, TV shows usually draw you in so that it becomes a regular activity.

I will do my best to order this list with the most quality/worthwhile stations at the top (I know this is highly subjective ).

Spain
  1. http://www.rtve.es/television/ (TVE1 y TVE2)
    (Example: http://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/t...a-sara/637137/ )

Seems to have a massive amount of content available of a decent quality (some dating back a few years).
  2. http://www.antena3.com/ (Click on "Más Videos")
    (Example: http://www.antena3.com/videos/el-sec...pitulo-20.html )

Also has a lot of quality content.
  3. http://www.telecinco.es/ (Programas -> Programas Íntegros)
    (Example: http://www.telecinco.es/mujeresyhomb...videoURL=38320 )

Looks like most of the typical junk content broadcast all over Europe, like "Mujeres y Hombres" linked to above (I'm guessing this is the same as "Uomini e Donne" in Italy, which is notoriously trashy :P
  4. http://www.cuatro.com/
    (Example: http://www.cuatro.com/billete-a-bras...mas-completos/ )

More junk content, like reality TV shows etc.

Argentina
  1. http://telefe.com/
    (Example: http://telefe.com/2010/10/secretos-de-amor-el-final/ )
  2. http://www.eltrecetv.com.ar/
    (Example: http://www.eltrecetv.com.ar/los-unic...0%93los-unicos )

Appears to have a good selection of current TV shows that play without any issues.

Peru

TV Perú actually seems to broadcast live TV online without any GeoIP restrictions. It doesn't look very good though

Paraguay

Looks terrible, but the only one I found with content online was Telefuturo.

Chile

Unfortunately (at least for me in Australia), all of the websites for these TV networks are too slow for me to watch anything from them. I provide the list for those who want to check them out though: UCV, Canal 13, Chilevisión, TVN, MEGA, La Red, Telecanal.

Costa Ricahttp://www.teletica.com/ but it's so slow you can't want anything.

Ok, I've basically been through all the countries I could find and in short, Spain wins hands down. Most of the South American (and Mexican) channels don't stream content at all.

Other countries I checked were: Mexico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, Columbia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador and Guatemala. If you think I'v missed one, let me know

This is such a great idea! Thank you for putting it all together for us. My brother has asked me to Tivo or record the upcoming Barcelona vs Madrid soccer game - do you know how I can do that? I live in the states, and I don't even get Cable, so it would have to be online some how.

Thanks again

Hi asiabird01,

I wouldn't really know with the soccer game, sorry. That Spanish TV network does have content from a sports show, but it's only news bulletins, as opposed to entire matches. Sports & movies aren't the sort of things I'd expect to find on these sites as they usually have really strict copyright and rebroadcasting rules. I guess your best best will be to ask a friend who has cable to record it

Thank you for the link that kindly you have posted here with us.
I don't know if this post is allowed in this thread, but as I see some many links posted here, I don't consider that my links aren't forbidden for me and it's free then.

Ok then I didn't say nothing.

URL Removed for me.

In that website there're a lot of channels what you can watch for a long time.

There I watched the news spoken in English solely.

I hope you can post kindly more links for us.

Sincerely yours.

Thanks for the link , but this doesn't look legal to me. It's streaming channels like the Discovery Channel, which clearly violates the Discovery Channel's copyrights. I only want to link to official websites owned by the TV networks. I don't want this thread to get closed because people start linking to copyright-violating websites through it

The sort of content that is available legally is just the stuff that had been produced by the TV networks themselves (typically ongoing series, telenovelas and TV films).

I wouldn't say "Mujeres y hombres" has a good quality content. T5 is the worst TV in Spain (cotilleo puro y duro).

Jaja, sí estoy de acuerdo. Pienso que sea exactamente el mismo como Uomini e donne en Italia

Thanks Aniketa, http://www.caracoltv.com/ seems to have content (e.g. telenovelas) that plays fine to me Unfortunately the "Edit" button seems to have disappeared from my original post so I can't add it to the list.

Hola conejo descarado.
Añade "clan tve". Es parte de tve (radiotelevisión española) pero son series infantiles.
You must add "clan tve". It's part of the TVE (spanish television) but for children.
www.rtve.es/infantil/
3 or 4 epidodies of each seria, and some games.
