Well hello there
Perhaps this post is past due, considering that I've been terrorizing the forum for a few days already. . .
I'm 29 years old, currently live in the state of Utah, and have been studying bits and pieces of Spanish since I was 15 (when I took Spanish I in high school). My most dramatic encounter with the language was in 2007 when I went to a Spanish school in Guatemala. Unfortunately, however, my Spanish has never moved beyond extremely basic levels . . . and I haven't paid attention to it since I got back from Guatemala 4 years ago, so it has deteriorated to the point of me remembering very little of what I learned. I mean, I'm having to go back and refresh myself on stuff like how to tell time, how to conjugate present tense verbs, etc. So why am I suddenly on fire once again to learn Spanish? Like many things in life, when it comes down it it's about a girl. There was a girl who worked at the Spanish school who I felt some degree of connection with and, after several years of not talking to her, she found me recently on Facebook. To make a long story short, she might be coming to the US for a couple months in December and, if she does, she'll be staying with me the whole time. Her English is about as good as my Spanish, so I know that something must be done. I know she is taking English classes so I figure I should meet her half way and do my best to learn all the Spanish I can between now and then. Unfortunately, the only option at my disposal is self-study, so I'm relying on computer software, books, movies, websites, and forums like this one to bring me up to speed. I hope it will be enough. And I would certainly appreciate any and all help from the members here. Thanks a bunch. . . Last edited by SPX; July 22, 2011 at 12:48 AM. |

Well thanks a bunch!
I'm not sure yet if it's a "love story." I guess it could be. Or it might just be a "like a lot" story. She is quite sweet though so it would hard not to like her . . . a lot. And I do hope to learn a lot of Spanish between now and then. I just need to stay focused . . . stay dedicated . . . don't get discouraged. Unfortunately discouragement is too easy to come by, but I'm trying to fight it. Spanish . . . me . . . it . . . coming together . . . I can do this! |
