Sí, en verdad tienes razón, los vehiculos modernos tiene el SAF[?] (sistema de antibloqueo de frenado). En inglés diríamos "I'm taking some dramatic license". No es completemente exacta pero ojala parezca un poca más dramático.

La ambulancia frena chirriando estrepitosamente en mitad de un cruce que está hasta los topes.

La ambulancia intenta detenerse en seco, mientras los frenos chirrían inevitablemente para evitar lo inevitable en un cruce lleno de tráfico.

La ambulancia frena con estrépito,

Eso es lo que yo iba a decir... pero me tuve que ir corriendo a salvar a los muchachos de la ambulancia, por el choque traumático que experimentaron... (por los chirridos y el caucho quemado...)
