Can someone please help me translate the following passage from el Estudio Preliminar de Ariel? I've tried looking up each word individually and have even run it through Google Translate, but I'm still very confused.

De su persona, de lo que externamente veían en ella la mayoría de sus contemopráneos, impresión que facilitaba y difundía su ensimismado ambular por las calles de Montevideo, ha perdurado una estampa física con caracteres de caricatura y el estilizable recuerdo de peculiaridades temperamentales confundibles con la mas frígida indiferencia, con la excentricidad o la rareza.

"veían" is imperfecto, so the translation of "externamente veían en ella"
should be something like "saw in her from the outside".

Hola Alyssa. Me recuerda a cuando estaba tomando clases de literatura española en la universidad. No era fácil incluso para los hablantes nativos de español. Las metáforas y el lenguaje figurativo y todo eso es muy interesante, sin embargo.
