There is a new word in English called "woo"

Woo is the kind of totally unproven nonsense which charlatans like psychics and clairvoyants try to sell to the gullible.

I would say

I don't believe in psychics, clairvoyants or any other peddlers of woo.

Actually, I would use stronger language than that!

Purveyors of woo is new to me, but I certainly understand the term.

Not knowing this term, I would use: I do not believe in psychics, clairvoyants or others of that ilk (or sort).

Yes, that's probably better because there are people who have not heard of woo. The expression woo is used by sceptics (or skeptics) in various internet forums.

Probably one of the worst ever consequences of adherence to these fanciful and absurd belief systems took place in London in the early nineties.

A couple were seeking a new home at a time when the property market was booming, they very quickly found a new property that fulfilled absolutely all their requirements so they made an offer which was accepted but no contracts were signed as the owners hadn't found a new home. They found a buyer for their existing house who made a good offer which was accepted and contracts signed.

While they were waiting the woman arranged a Feng-Shui survey for their new property which indicated it was totally unsuitable in every way - out of the question! So when the vendors rang to say they were ready to sign she said they'd changed their mind and were looking for another house.

All of which was perfectly ok except in the following weeks and months house prices started to go insane and the money they got from their old house wouldn't buy hardly anything and they ended in a tiny place in a very poor district. All because of a daft Feng-Shui survey!

I know that was true as it was in the newspapers and on TV news!
