You are using that stuff with the sentence al lado or aun lado, let me telling you, they are both does mean the same, you can use the word aun lado as aside and as side, then if you can use both words is ok, because they seems like in own built.

For example.

I'm side of my home.

I'm aside of my home.


As I told you before, both words seems same in the mean, but I think, they are not the same.

"I'm aside of my home" doesn't make sense to me.......

Why does make sente for you the sentence I'm aside of my home, you give me a good reason for that it does make sence, if the phrase in Spanish has a lot sence, you can say I'm aside of my brother, if you have a good explain above the sentence please, let me know.

you don't need the of in the sentence. You can just say "I'm beside my brother". Beside is a preposition. Take away the of and your sentence will make more sense
