Soy muy conservador con los libros nuevos porque uno nunca sabe su nivel, en cambio con los clásicos al menos se puede asegurar que mal escritos -en su mayoría- no están. (con 'clásicos' a lo último que me refiero es a los best sellers, casi antónimo)

Andube intentando leer en ingles a Lovecraft y veo que me falta muchisimo vocabulario para poder disfrutarlo y no recurrir todo el tiempo al diccionario (la gramática la entiendo casi siempre). Algo similar me pasa con Poe, aunque me resulta mucho más facil.

Stevenson me gusta mucho como escribe, solo he leído de él poesías en ingles. Estuve hojeando algunos libros en su lengua y entiendo casi todo más allá del vocabulario, creo que probaré con él.

¡Ese tipo de libros para aprender sirve muchisimo!, al final de cada página ponen el vocabulario así no recurris al diccionario todo el tiempo, muy bueno.

No exactly the book that you're telling me no, I haven't read, but even I believe that over the reading of any book but always get in the language that you are improving while you have a good a wonderful reading, I believe that any books is good in this moment at least to me, but there're books as the named the Civilization Mayan wrote here in Mexico, it's very interesting already that you get with the reading to the same time learning something new, only that kinds to books are some words perhaps something weir to your, but you can find them in the a online dictionary a while you learning new during the lecture, now never in my life I have finished any book completely for myself, but I have the wish to do it, already I feel the need to get better my English that even it poor, also you can try with to music in Spanish, it really helps you, at least to me helped a lot, you don't know how much it help sometimes, I hope that you don't be snuff with the news books therefore.

I agree that detective stories are good for learning (and enjoying). My favourites
are the Carvalho series of Vázquez Montalbán, which also give a history of the
Spanish Transition (El Balneario and Asesinato en el Comité Central are my favourites).
Leonardo Padura's Havana quartet are also good.
Can anyone recommend anything more recent?

Acabo de terminar Génesis, de Bernard Beckett. Es un buen ejemplo de lo que debe ser la ciencia ficción: lo que importa no es la ciencia futura sino la pregunta filosófica que los resultados plantean. Y para que conste, la traducción me parecía bien.

El libro del mes de mi club de lectura es La soledad de los números primos, de Paolo Giordano. Lo he comprado hoy, así que tendré que esperar para poder contaros algo.

Acabado. Algunos temas bastante fuertes, aunque no hace hincapié en los detalles, que fue un alivio - al principio del capítulo 4 no estaba seguro si podría seguir. Pero tampoco hace hincapié en los motivos, así que resulta difícil identificarse con los personajes.

Escribe bien, te deja sospechando lo que seguirá pero incierto, pero al final parece sólo un cuento. No puedo decirte qué quería decir. El autor mismo reconoce en una entrevista que leí después del libro que no está satisfecho con el final del libro.

Hay algunas cosas que parecen poco coherentes dado lo que conozco de las matemáticas, y un misterio para los que quieren hacer de detective (aunque parece que las pistas son distintas en la versión original italiana y la traducción española).

Pues no está mal, no lo desaconsejaría, pero no sé por qué ganó dos premios italianos de literatura.
