Crotalito - there are plenty of "game" threads going on in the forums. Please don't rush this one. There are several conversations that need resolution. We will answer your question when we're ready...

Jessica - there were some questions about your most recent response to a question (see Here4Good's post) and a comment that I made about wanting to see you try this game in Spanish. I KNOW you are able to do it....

When was the last time you went to the theatre?

Last year, in my home-town.

Do you think it could be proper English in any environment?

Yeah it's true, I don't really care when was the last time you guys went to the toilet these games are means to learn things about the language and to come up with doubts that in another thread would not arise!

I'm not sure. We would say "we had" about rain or snow or sunshine or even about temperatures in general:
- We had sunshine yesterday.
- We had a lot of rain last summer.
- We had snow every day for the past two weeks.
- We had temperatures in the 50's in December.

But I don't think that we would say "We had ____" about a specific temperature reading. I think I would say "It was 28 degrees yesterday".

This game is getting too confusing with side-conversations... it would be better if everyone kept the side coments after each answer-reply standard sentences.

So, from the last question:

This a side conversation that I'm trying to indicate by using blue.
I agree, it is a little confusing, but I'm certainly getting a lot more out of this than when it was question + one word answer, which didn't really stretch my English nor my Spanish. My reasons for being on the forum are to practise Spanish and help out where I can with corrections.
So, I'm willing to go with it. I find that if I read back through the replies I can understand without too many problems.
If people don't like the idea perhaps we can PM corrections and comments???????????
I would like to invite all users of this thread to give their comments.

@Here4good: One can keep side-comments while letting the game run on, by simply marking the answer and the new question before.
It would be nice to see you participating in more topics too, which would be also more helpful for your language practice.

So question is still:

Okay, Angelica, I'll move on. (Although I'd really love to hear Jessica's answers to the questions posted in the previous page....)

Nunca. He estado en un taxi solamente algunas veces in mi vida.

Fishing, are we, Malila?

Para responder a tu pregunta:

Hace siete horas.

Bueno, a ver si he entendido...
¡A Jugar!

You will decide what suits you better for posting.
It is true that the forum threads can drift into different issues, but users are encouraged to avoid off-topics and confusing posts for other learners. If you're posting in a game thread, breaking the game creates an off-topic. This is certainly not about hunting after your comments, but just about suggesting everyone to observe the forum rules, so this place is enjoyable and useful for everybody. Things are simple and corrections and comments on other people's postings within the game can be made by also respecting the game idea.

Answer: Two weeks ago.

Crotalito - I think that in Spanish, the word for "record" is "disco". You may never have listened to one, but surely you've seen pictures and heard OF them!

Another language peculiarity - so I'll answer your question in English. I would only use the word "highway" to refer to a large and very busy road. I would never think of walking in a highway - I don't know that I often see people foolish enough to walk in a highway. Do you mean to walk in the road? I often walk in the road in front of my house. But it is a very narrow road, and is a dead-end, so it is only used by the people who also live on the road that I do.

My question:

Yesterday night my boyfriend and I had Chinese food for dinner and I will only say that it is the last time ever I have that sauce with bamboo and mushrooms.

By the way, how do you distinguish 'champiñón' from 'seta' in English? cos I actually wanted to say 'setas' and I don't know how!

When was the last time you bit your nails?

I didn't know there were different names for mushrooms. I think that in English, we probably just have one word that covers a whole wide range of mushroom-looking thingies. That would be a good question for you to ask in the Vocabulary forum!

Off-topic answer - I'd say 'wild mushrooms' as distinct from champignons which are a specific species of mushroom. Just guessing.
