Thank you for the compliments! It is funny, but there is one "sentence" or a "saw" by "El Conde Lucanor" which goes, "De hombres bien nacidos es ser agradecidos" (o quizá decía: "De hombres bien nacidos es el ser agradecidos"). La idea es la misma, aunque el lenguaje usado entonces estaba en la infancia del castellano... Siempre me han gustado los "haikús" y las "greguerías" y las frases cortas con ingenio, como una que decía: "La guitarra es un pozo con música en vez de agua", de Gerardo Diego (si la memoria no me falla). Lo importante de las palabras, las frases y los libros, como con cualquier otra cosa es si nos ayudan a comprender mejor la vida y a vivirla más intensamente... lo que me lleva a un proverbio chino que decía: "Los dioses han creado la vida, no para comprender su significado, sino para vivirla intensamente".

Gracias. El gusto es mío. Herman Hesse, en una traducción española de El Caminante (un librito muy breve de poemas y acuarelas del autor) decía algo así como: "El humo no es más que el sueño de la muerte, y entre tanto, el fuego de la vida crepita fuerte". (No sé como sería el poema original, pues mi alemán no da más que para "Volkswagen", pero quizá para leer alguien como Herman Hesse merecería la pena aprender ese idioma... Muy buena, la cita que citas de Walt Disney... Creo que acrecienta nuestro valor para seguir soñando y hacer realidad esos sueños, no en cinemascope, sino en vida-más-tope (expresión que me acabo de sacar de la manga... gracias por la inspiración.)

Sí, Hermit, el Quijote está lleno de dichos que han pasado a la cultura popular, o que él mismo extrajo de la cultura popular... Por ejemplo, hay una expresión que me parece que usó que era "al freír de los huevos se verá" que un traductor inglés de siglos más tarde tradujo como "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" o algo así. Entonces, basados en esa traducción algunos atribuyen el origen de la expresión inglesa a Cervantes, cuando la suya era distinta (aunque el concepto y el sentido venían a ser los mismos.) Cuando yo traduzco expresiones idiomáticas el inglés al español intento usar el equivalente "idiomático/conceptual" aunque no concuerde literalmente. Por ejemplo, la expresión española "en casa del herrero: cuchillo de palo" sería equivalente a la expresión en inglés, "the cobbler's children walk around barefooted" que litearalmente sería: "los hijos del zapatero andan descalzos". Curiosamente, la expresión también se entiende, pero de alguna forma (al menos en España) yo no he visto que se use... En fin... uno de estos días voy a releer El Quijote, que como dice mi autor preferido, "it is one of the tommiest tomes you can get ahold of..." (El Quijote, no es especialmente breve, que digamos, pero es una fuente inagotable de humor y de filosofía. Lo leí hace 27 años, cuando tenía 20, y la verdad es que disfruté como yo solo... en especial la segunda parte...) Pues eso. Nunca hubiere caballero de damas tan bien servido, como fuera Don Quijote, cuando de su aldea vino... (Tuve a un profesor de Física que aun siendo de "ciencias" se había aprendido de memoria los 6 primeros capítulos del Quijote!!! Como en Farenheit 491... ¡Vaya pasada!

2 questions I guess I can ask you,
1.) Is your name "CrOtAlitO" the diminutive of "crótalo" as in "a type of snake" or comes from the sense of the "percussion instrument"? (I take it is the first, but you can confirm.)
2.) "The truck 4X4 the best of the whole world" - Does this have a particular significance for you...?
Otherwise if you check the entry "cuando al tonto le da por las coles..." and want to fill in the survey, or add any more comments to it, that will be helpful.

Your doubts are very common, and you aren't the first person who asks me that for first time before.

My user ID is CrOtALiTo, this nick name has around of seven years over me or with me, really I like the he nick name, because I like the snakes more the the crotalo specie, now yes you're right with the diminutive of the nick name, literally CrOtALiTo is the diminutive of crotalo or crotal that they are completely the same in both cases, already they express the same, and they have the same means in the ambit animal.

Then when I have to decided in choose a nick name, I have to think a lot of in what nick name was of my taste, because time before I had a nick name more long and hard of pronoun that nick name were hdd_regenerator.

As you can see it's longer than the currently ones. Likewise I decided to see Discovery channel and well just I saw to the crotalo. And since that moment I decided to think a nice way to do more significant my nick name and it does more funny for me, then I though it could be CrOtALiTo with the letter in Capital and minuscule it could be marvelous then.

In your second question.
My life is be in the ground and mountain with my Jeep a Grand Cherokee 4 x 4, I fanatic of the extreme in the dirt, that for me is wonderful, therefore when you've a hobby that it's my case, you can write in my under topic the ( The truck 4 x 4 is the best of the whole world. Because it means for me the best after my family is the first of course, the second more important then being the truck.
