Greasy spoon - Page 2

@Brute: true, but in Spanish, "fonda", doesn't have the direct greasy connotation.

@tacuba: In Mexico, "antro" is the latest fashion word for night club. It can include "discotecas", "bares", "cantinas", etc.

In Spain "antro" it's the lowest level place. It can be a grease spoon, or a poor disco, or a not-renewed-in-30-years hotel.

(Del lat. antrum y este del gr. ἄντρον).
1. m. Caverna, cueva, gruta. U. m. en leng. poét.
2. m. Local, establecimiento, vivienda, etc., de mal aspecto o reputación.
