No hay nada malo en explicar los motivos. Tengo una asignatura de Historia que tengo que estudiar en inglés. Me estoy preparando los apuntes y, como el temario es muy amplio y tengo mucha materia que estudiar, evito palabras nuevas que tenga que buscar varias veces en el diccionario o, peor ( ), que el día del examen no recuerde. Geared era una palabra nueva (he dicho 'era').

Ah, ya veo...
Yo tiendo a sumergirme en lo que trataría de evitar, por aquello de la ley de Murphy, o la "ley de Moraga"... Es decir, si tengo una palabra que no entiendo, me la aclaro en el contexto, hago de 10 a 20 oraciones inventadas, y luego miro el resto de las definiciones, la etimología y los sinónimos... aunque eso está totalmente en "vectores opuestos" a ganar tiempo... aunque "pierdo" tiempo en esa palabra... cuando me mantengo en ello (hace falta disciplina) a la larga... ganas a tiempo... (aunque puede que sea muuuy a la larga.)
