"Locos de remate"
"De remate" is a colloquial adverbial phrase meaning "extremely" or "completely", specifically "the highest grade available". It possibly comes from card games that admits a play adding leverage to another simultaneous play (that is a "remate"). A "loco de remate" is literally an inarticulate or aggressive lunatic who needs permanent housing in the psychiatric ward of an institution. Figuratively a "loco de remate" is a person who constantly engages in a harmful behaviour or keeps taking decisions against his best interest. It also may be used as an exaggeration for "a bit crazy" or "slightly delusional".

Yeah , " locos de remate" means like " totally crazy"
Remate also means the detail or finish of a job , for example " ese coche tiene muy buen remate" "that car has a good finish" ...and also "end up at , end up with" ( as a verb ) "Ese hombre era un delincuente desde pequeño y remató en la cárcel" " Estuve toda la noche de bar en bar y rematé en casa de mi amigo" Last edited by AngelicaDeAlquezar; June 30, 2011 at 05:13 PM. And what about remates in the construction field ?
Example: Lo más difÃcil al construir una casa son los remates. Remates in Spanish is all the things you have to do to finish everithing off. You fix sth not well done, to file something up, to paint a mistake, to put the most difficult tile, to add some silicon so that the water doens´t leak etcc.. What do we call these kind of remates in English' final touches, maybe? |
