New logo/look

I've been working on a new logo, and I wanted to run it by you all. It's not finalized by any stretch of the imagination. It's just an idea. Can you even tell what the icon/logo is supposed to be?

What do you think?

I suppose it's a book (a tome), but it took me awhile to figure that out. Perhaps an extended body, and some small lines to represent pages would help, or some writing on the spine.

Oooh, yes! Nice book.

I like the look of the wording used in the old logo.

I find it a tad too serious...

I can't believe I'm hearing this from a bookworm who devours books.
María, si en lugar ser una gusana de libros sea una ratoncita que pasaría
si David poniera un pedazo de queso en lugar de un tomo. ¿Tampoco
le gustaría?

This is an excercise in the subjunctive. I hope what I wrote makes sense.
Please let me know. Thanks.

Poli, poniera is something little children say when they are learning to talk...
I don't mind the book, but I would like it to be accompanied by some kind mascot to lighten it up a bit...

Yes, I'll campaign for a bookworm on top of the the tome.

Well, a bookworm would be too blatantly self-centered...

I thought it would boost you ego, but it would be for the good of us all. Please don't let it go to your head. Bookworms are cute, but conceited littles slugs soon lose their charm.

You are not calling me slug, are you? It's just a hypothetical sentence, I hope...

No! You are not a slug. In fact you are not a worm either. You are a fine person.
Perhaps my attempt at humor failed.

Here are some more sketches. Those books took me more than an hour to draw.

Do you think the two books are a good representation of a "Spanish Language Learning Community"? I like them, but I don't know if it's very memorable.

As Poli says, maybe I should add a bookworm.
