Nope, you have to follow the conjugated verb with an infinitive, in this case "ir". Otherwise it would be read as "I want I go..." "Voy" doesn't mean "to go", it means "I go."

These days I would usually ask "y el pescado hoy, ¿qué tipo es? I don't know if it's grammatically correct, and if I should be using "cuál", but it gets the job done without the waiters teasing me....
