Alfonso, the second sentence needs fine tuning. You can say "Where about from India are you?"(It sounds a bit hayseed. Sometimes the you can be substitued with ya, at least in spoken English) , or in a finer register "What part of India are you from?", and a higher register would be "From what part of India are you?"
It's good to know all of them.

You can also say (in a lowish register): Where in India are you from? / Where are you from in India?

So, I guess my sentence is not right because it's got two prepositions for the same verb, about and from.

I just wanted to add a note to Spanish-speakers that the prefix auto in English usually (not always, but usually) refers to something that's automatic not to yourself. It would be better understood if you said self-quotes or self-quoting.
