You can also say (in a lowish register): Where in India are you from? / Where are you from in India?

I just wanted to add a note to Spanish-speakers that the prefix auto in English usually (not always, but usually) refers to something that's automatic not to yourself. It would be better understood if you said self-quotes or self-quoting.
