Was it true that the Empire State Building was building from the top down? How did they do that, if it is true?

All buildings have a foundation, then vertical columns and girders are built upwards from that. It is possible to put on the outside materials starting at the top, I guess, but no building could be built from the top down.

oh ok I guess the internet is wrong about the Empire State Building being built from the top down. I can't picture that. It's impossible

Jchen, you have doubt above the building of the Empire State, from your country, and you have said, you can't find some picture above of the build.

What do kind of doubt or questions you have above the build of the edifice?

I think what you read was that it was designed from the top down, not built from the top down.

okay it was built the regular way, of course. It was designed from top down. They started at the top and finished at the bottom. What don't you understand?

Ok, then they started of top down toward bottom, then where are the strange of the build?

Every build over each city they start of top down.

What does top donw mean?

You could build something from the top down by building the top floor, then jacking it up and building the next floor under it... etc. Don't know how efficient it would be though. (I like free-thinking exercises.)

Or maybe.......have a huge crane hold up the top while the construction crew builds underneath...
