This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for January 1, 2010
vil (adjective) — low, villainous, vile, rotten, foul. Look up vil in the dictionary ¿Por qué me haces esto? ¡No seas tan vil, debes tener sentimientos! Why are you doing this to me? You're so despicable, you should be ashamed of yourself!

Un impuesto para/a los pobres (a tax for the poor) -> Un impuesto que pagan los pobres (the poor pay this tax)
Un impuesto sobre los pobres (a tax on the poor) -> Un impuesto que se pagaría de acuerdo al número de pobres (people would pay this tax because there are poor people)
