ITV Stands for Inspección técnica de Vehículos and this consists of taking your car to an official garage and have your car checked, then you have to pay a tax for it, the authorities tell you whether the car is valid for circulation or not. How do you say this in English, in Spanish we say :

Can anybody translate it, I know there is an expression in BE but I don´t remember it. Is there any in AE? Does anybody know?
THanks in advance.

You would go the the DMV for automobile inspection.
You would also go the DMV for a driver's test in order to obtain a driver's licence.

I'm going to take my car in for a check-up
Im going to take my car to be serviced

Ok.
