Vi en Mexico trozos de pepino en una ensalada de frutas. Cambió mi opinión de los pepinos. Antes pesaba que los pepinos eran buenos en las ensaladas con lechuga y tomates o encurtido.
Ahora sé que el pepino es una comida más versatíl... como un melón menos dulce. (igual las jícamas pero las jícamas aunque son tubérculos parecen manzanas menos dulces)

I was being polite with the pepino, Laepelba... Porque "me importa un carajo" sería mucho más basto (rude), o "me importa una mierda", que es lo que a veces decimos... Y no se me ocurre ninguna peor, pero seguro que cuando deje de escribir, sí

@Lou Ann: Los pepinos no engordan.
![]() Adding to Hernán's reminder: Importarle a alguien un pepino = importarle a alguien un comino = importarle a alguien un bledo = not to care about something.

Hehe..
![]() In Dutch pepino = komkommer. 'Komkommertijd' (literally 'cucumbertime') means a time in which there is very little to do in terms of work eg when everyone is on holidays etc. ('slow' times). Is there a more specific expression like this in English, or indeed in Spanish? ![]() ![]()

cumbersome which means awkward. I don't believe its roots are tied to cucumbers.

![]() ![]() It's very funny you should mention it because this again bears great resemblance to another Dutch word :kommer Kommer = problems, agravation (oldfashioned word). Zich bekommeren om = to worry about, to care about. In fact this is a wordjoke which is made with these two words I have seen several times; Kommer en kwel = a whole lot of misery Becomes >>> 'Komkommer en kwel' = a play on words. ![]() http://www.komkommerenkwel.nl/ ¡Muchas gracias! ![]() ![]()

![]() So, when using one of your phrases in a sentence, it could be like this: Me importa un pepino el juego de fútbol. Or would I use "sobre" or some other connector word? While I was typing this, a friend in Uruguay IM'ed me and at one point during the conversation, she said "no entiendo un pepino". ![]() By the way - I don't believe that anyone has mentioned the English idiom: cool as a cucumber. Is there something similar in Spanish?
