Que onda!? Me llamo Nick y soy un estudiante universitario. Bueno, cambiare de idioma. I'm a Spanish Education major, and I'm a senior. I just studied abroad in Merida, Mexico for a semester, hence the "que onda?" It was an amazing experience and changed my life forever. I have a Mexican girlfriend, and speak Spanish daily. Next semester I am going to student teach (obviously teaching Spanish). I feel that I can help a bit on the forums with some of the questions being asked. Ta biem. Saludos

Bueno, "¿qué onda?" básicamente quiere decir "¿qué pasa?" o "¿qué hay de nuevo?" Se la utiliza con mucha frecuencia en México. De hecho, la palabra "onda" se usa mucho. Por ejemplo, se escuchará "¡Qué buena onda!" La cual quiere decir "What a good person!" (if you're talking about a person) or "How nice" (if you're talking about an event, etc). Además, en vez de coquetear, se "tira la onda." Jajaja, bueno obvio mientras estar al extranjero, adquirí muchos modismos. A lo mejor Crotalito conozca más frases con la palabra "onda."

I agree with you. The word Que onda or Que hay de nuevo is most used between the Mexican people. You expression is right.

Sí y de verdad, hay aun más modismos en México. Pero, "equis" (Ni modo, en México), lo interesante del país es que hay tantos modismos. Asimismo ses incorpora algunas frases de las lenguas indígenas. Por ejemplo, en el Yucatán, utilizamos algunas palabras mayas. I.E. Decir "fo" quiere decir "guácala." Bueno, como ves Crotalito, estoy completamente enamorado de México! Órale pues

Ah, y a parte de modismos, ni siquiera mencioné las palabras prestadas de los EUA. Se escuchará "Sorry" (but with the rolled "r"), "brother" (obviously with Spanish pronunciation), "party," y más que nada "bye" jaja. De hecho, en las conversaciones de teléfono, no creo que escuchara ni "Adiós;" o sea que siempre se decía "bye"

Crotalito, por si quieres saber, "Estar enamorado de" traduce a "to be in love with." De hecho, siempre ha sido algo difícil esa frase para los que aprenden español y que hablan inglés como su lengua nativa. Los que están aprendiendo español dicen, "estar enamorado con" porque están traduciendo directamente de inglés, y no se puede. Así que me imagino que sería lo mismo para los hispanohablantes que están aprendiendo inglés (lo de la dificultad).

De todas formas, "to be in love with" = "estar enamorado de"

simon carnal, bnew expresions, lol, I like them , but we don`t use them , no se como explicarloi en ingles, de hecho, hay muchisimos modismo que esta padres y algunos no, pero mucha gente de la alta sociedad no lo usa o un licenciado, profesionista cualqier persona que tiene estudios no lo debe usarlos. pero jovenes hacen uso de estos modismos, no lo veo mal, de hecho de repente me salen algunas palabras, lol*_* I hope you understand !!
