Hola a todos,
India (country) in spanish is "la india". The adjective - indian is "india". What is a male/female indian referred to in spanish like mexicano (male mexican) and mexicana (female mexican). Saludos, Raji |

Hindús? .. I dont think that should be the right way to call as how you said there are many religions followed in this country.
Since for "indian" it is "india" I guessed an indian will be refered as "indio/a" but Poli says native americans are called that way...... |

It's not right, but it's a reality. I suspect that in the countries where Hindú is used informally to discribe people from India may not have a big populations of Indians.

I glad you're here with us. Your questions is some complicate, 'cause in some places of this earth, there're a lot types of tribes, for example, as you said it. in the indian the persons are called hindu, but in Mexico, the people of the hills, they're called indians, I think, What it depend of the place where are you, in another example, the word indian's used in others forms of expression as idiom, at least, here in my country that word is used for to say to a person with lowly of culture, if you need more information about it, you can to find in google, threads about it.
