If I understand correctly, it might be "to have pangs of conscience"

Look to what Oxford has to say,

no siente ningún cargo or remordimiento de conciencia
she feels no remorse
muchos crímenes pesan sobre su conciencia he has many crimes on his conscience

to feel pangs of remorse sentir remordimiento (de conciencia)

You are right as usual. It should be pangs of remorse and twinges of conscience. I have both now for not consulting Oxford first!

I feel bad about,
I regret,
I feel guilty
are all close to the meaning of feeling remorse.
