Question Picking

Buenos Dias!!

Stop picking on your scab!! -o-
You will spread the warts if you are picking on them.

UGH!!

Anyways...........help

Elaina

Welcome back , Elaina. I would translate to pick as tocar in the two examples you have given.

Welcome back Elaina!

In addition to tocar, as Iris says, here are some other possible options. Sé que se usa picar en Mexico.
Stop picking on your scab!
No te estés picando la costra.
No estés rasgando la costra.

You will spread the warts if you are picking on them.

So, another gross question. How do they say to pick one's nose in Spanish in the Americas?

Another source says hurgar las narices.

To pick through, dig through, fish through, rummage, move things around
Reflexive form: To poke one's nose in, poke, rake

To pour salt on a wound = hurgar en una/su/tu herida

Meterse el dedo en la nariz. Not very original, I'm afraid.

"buscar petroleo" is more for young people, to another person who is "searching"
So "¿Estás buscando petroleo?" it's a way of saying "what are you searching in your nose?
saludos

Gracias a todos por sus sugerencias (and then some).

Elaina
